“Rich Bullion: Secret Currency” And Some Thoughts on Personal Holdings and Watchlist Picks

Friday File solution to a gold teaser, and thoughts on Third Point, Input Capital, Sandstorm Gold, East West Petroleum, Americas Petrogas

By Travis Johnson, Stock Gumshoe, October 11, 2013

Happy October Friday, Gumshoe friends — I shared a special teaser-solution article with the Irregulars this week on Agora’s “Miracle Water” tease and have written briefly about a new buy that I made during the week (that was TGS Nopec, which I wrote about briefly here — not ready to go into more detail on that one yet but I’ll probably write more about TGS and Pulse Seismic later this month), so I’ll try to keep today’s notes a bit brief. The little speculative flyers I’m gambling on don’t really have any news to speak of (here I reference Americas Petrogas, BOE.V, and East West Petroleum, EW.V), though both have done well this week as of Friday morning.

East West Petroleum was the Phase 1 Investor pick that we sniffed out for you (and a Myron Martin pick, as you might remember), and Frank Curzio hosted the Phase 1 conference call (presumably with CEO David Sidoo) last night, though I don’t expect that specifically to move the shares, or at least not for very long — in fact, I think it’s likely that the shares will come back down a bit if speculators realize that it might be still at least several weeks before there’s meaningful news (and the news is unlikely to be blockbuster-worthy, odds are that it won’t be spectacular or terrible).

What we’re waiting for are results, either from their partnered drilling in Romania (where they’re being carried for 12 wells) or their early drilling on their New Zealand concessions, where they’re trying to drill nine quick wells before year end and where we’re waiting on flow tests to start rolling. These are quick wells, so they’ll probably have at least something to say every month or so — and they say they are also planning to bid with TAG again when New Zealand has more bidding rounds for new territories. So New Zealand is likely to be the next catalyst for them — Romania will take longer, they’re doing seismic on the first block now and planning to start the drilling program early next year, though the implication is that their partner that’s running and paying for the Romanian drilling is planning to (and is capable of) drill the first 12 wells all next year. Both the Romanian drilling and the New Zealand drilling are relatively low-risk geologically, they can always fail or be ...
